And I thought my childhood was rough........

The most striking part of this book was the ever present hunger. No one, especially children, should EVER have to go hungry. And no one should EVER have to eat a lard sandwich. EVER.

I read the Glass Castle! It's absolutely insane. I got madder and madder with every chapter. I have the hardest time believing that it is true, and there are stupid people out there that get away with crap like this. It's incredible.

it is insane isn't it - and yes, people do get away with this kind of stuff - I see all sorts of sad things like this in the hospital.

Glass Castle was very revealing...the author had to have alot of guts to dish about her childhood like that. Have you ever read 'Memoirs of a Geisha'? If you want an insane world, read it. It is so involving, it completely took me away. I highly recommend it.
