happy birthday jenn

It's been a long time. 7 years? 10 years? I dunno. I was wearing nail polish in that picture. i think the first one is 7th grade. I wore that TECH VEST from old navy so so much. I loved those things! The next picture has got to be 10th grade. I've got my warped tour shirt on....with the cut off sleves.....and the excessive punk rocker eye-liner. Hiking picture - that was after graduation, when we found the mountains.

Remember when we had hottie bodies and nice nice tans? Oh man, that was the life. Working-out - doing homework - eating lots of food - whining about our curfews - day dreaming about boys - laying out and getting tan.

Things aren't too different now though. Going to work - getting the motivation to work out - eating lots more food - whining about getting to bed late - day dreaming about our sweet hubbies.....being scared of skin cancer and not being tan.....yeah....things change.....but then again some things always remain. Thanks for being my friend (: luv you!

10 random things (:

okay okay I'll do it.

here's my ten random things for the day

#1 I am sitting in my cubicle at work right now looking at the heart people my sister made for me - which are rock'n awesome by the way. cutey little niece and nephews patooties.

#2 I love buying myself treats. i would rather have a candy bar than a new shirt anyday. I buy these granola bars at work everday they are homemade here at the hospital and are really good. i guess that's why i've got a little pudge and dress so crappy.

#3 My favorite BOM story is about alma and amulek - how the lord prepared amulek for alma. i love that - way cool- our prayers are answered.

#4 My husband is the greatest. He made me dinner last night since I had to work. i love getting ready for bed and snuggling with him. hes got a nice beard.

#5 I need to learn more about history/politics. I had to ask richard what happened at tienemen square- i think that should be common knowledge. also i dont know how to spell that.

#6 fall is my favorite season, but i do luv spring (but not allergies ACHOO)

#7 my grandpa could have been a millionare. he was out with his friend doing some geology and they took two different paths (literally). his friend struck gold or something. my g-pa got the shaft. i dont know the complete story, its just something like that. family history is cool.

#8 i had a cat named snowball. it was our only pet. it got run over my neighbor after ~1week of being our pet

#9 i drive a 91 subaru legacy. it is missing the front turn signal. oregon lets you drive cars that are not safe

#10 my mom tells me she named me nicole because my hair was black like coal. i think that is a lie. she just liked the name. i want to name my kid olive or oliver depending on the sex. that wont be for a while though. richard thinks thats a nerdy name.

Indian Sweets

Our sweet neighbors from India made us some sweet treats. These were like awesome little dounuts in a sweet sauce - served hot. Way cool. I think they are called Jalebi. We made some valentines cookies for them....I wonder if they thought they were weird just like at first sight we thought these looked weird.

Looks like crazy hippi bus people got their wish.......

The crazy hippi bus people.

Their dream come true in NY times.

I think I could be one of these people. Except that I am starting my first real garden this summer - I guess I'm not hippi enough to qualify yet.

Richard the Handy Man

"I ain't supporting no foregin country"

Yesterday I made my weekly trip to sportsman warehouse to spend more money on fishing equipment that I am eventually going to lose. I picked up some line, lures, and corkies. (The red thing is a corky. It is supposed to attract fish. I don't believe it but I keep buying them.). I left the store and went to see Nicole at work. I told Nicole what I bought then realized I had shoplifted the corkies. So after fishing I headed back to sportsman warehouse.

As I was standing in line I overheard the checker tell the lady in front of me that sportsman warehouse had been bought by a canadian company. Then the checker said it was going to be better for Sportsman Warehouse, but the lady in front of me said "I ain't supporting no foreign country" as she picked up here recently bought earmuffs (Made in China) and walked out the door.

thank you mom.

And I thought my childhood was rough........

The most striking part of this book was the ever present hunger. No one, especially children, should EVER have to go hungry. And no one should EVER have to eat a lard sandwich. EVER.

nicole favorite cookies

Well, i guess they are tied for favorite with peanut butter oatmeal, for which I have no recipe.....

Quick Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
(from Mary Rempel, Altona, Manitoba- Best of Country Cookies Cookbook)

2 pkgs devil's food cake mix
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs

FILLING:
1 pkg (8oz) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

(if you are bryan, then you probably remember this recipe as:
1 pck CC, 1/4c. butt, 2-1/2c. PS, 1 t. van)

In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mixes, oil and eggs; mix well. Roll into 1 in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on un-greased baking sheets. do not flatten. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to wire racks (cookies will flatten as they cool). In a small mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and butter. Add sugar and vanilla; beat until smooth, spread on the bottom of half of the cookies; top with remaining cookies.

yield: 6 d0zen cookies (not likely that you will have that many when you are done because you will make yourself sick eating 1 dozen while you are frosting them)

ps Jonelle says they are real good refrigerated and I concur!~(:

NICOLES GUMS: under the knife

Well, its been done. I've got sutures in my mouth. Gum graft is completed. Hopefully our insurance reimburses us that 1180 buckaroos. I'm not supposed to pull my lip out to check it out (so i don't pull out the sutures), but I couldn't help it. I can't believe how small those sutures are!!!

Everyone has been telling me how painful this surgery is. It's really not so bad. I haven't cried once. As long as it doesn't get infected I should be fine.

Worst part of the whole thing is my diet this week: 100% carnation instant breakfast. Nothing crunchy. ): So sad no veggies. Since I have sutures on the roof of my mouth (where they took the graft from), its uncomfortable to even try pudding or anything remotely solid. Oh yeah, and NO PHYSICAL ACTIVITY for 72 hours. That's forever. I'm bored. Come visit me.
