Question for Joy?

Nicole is due for a new phone so we were analyzing our current usage and plans to see if we should move into the 21st century and get her a smartphone.  We were looking at our phone Usage minutes on our family plan.  Currently Nicole, Joy (My Sister), and Steve (My brother) are on the plan.  This is the breakdown of this months minutes and we have like 3 days left in the month.   So here are the questions, Joy, can you remember everybody you have called this last month?  Why do you have a phone again?   Oh ya it looks like a no for Nicole on the smartphone so we are still stuck in the 20th century, with our cloth diapers and no texting phone.

stop to smell the roses

That's good advice and all - but it's also good to get where you are going before the event is over.
I let anna walk to the library.  I thought having her push a stroller would encourage faster walking.
Nope.
It encouraged dilly dallying because she had to show Cookie Monster everything she knows about Sherwood.  "look cookie, those berries are poisonous, they will kill you if you eat them"  yup - she said all that.  I've got to be real careful about what i tell her!

We eventually got the library - a half hour late.  Ah well.  It was fun.

you win some you lose some

well we usually have lots of positive really fun adventures to share.  This weekend wasn't one of them.  We'd put on the top ten worst weekends ever.  Maybe even #1.

We started out the day at midnight with Julia waking us up.  Rich was kind enough to stay up with her.  So I could rest, but I can't when he's in there because I feel bad because I feel like it's my job. ANYWAYS, so then she woke us up at 6:30 on saturday.  Anna slept in a bit.

Then we sat on the couch and thought about how we didn't want to go to this kickball tournament because we're tired.  But richard secretly really wanted to go.  So after calling each other lazy we finally worked together to pack a lunch and get out of the house (anna woke up eventually, but pretty grouchy).

The drive there was fine except anna thought we were going to OMSI and was disappointed.

We played kickball for a fundraiser for engineers without borders.  I can't pay attention to team sports long enough to be any good but richard was "5 for 5 with 3 home runs"  He'll tell you about it if you'll lend an ear.  Anna was super grouchy because there were too many adults and no kids.  And I kept having to go out in the field because there is a rule that you have to have 4 girls int he outfield at all times.  She didn't like that.  Neither did I.  It's embarrassing.

Then they got some more girls but at that point anna was way past done and was super grouchy.  So I got out lunch but we forgot a spoon, so we went over to this food tent to get one and anna had a meltdown because she wanted to eat there, but we forgot cash.  So I'm holding Julia and trying to carry screaming anna and richard sees me, comes over and I got mad and said "it's time to go"  So we left.  Richard was sad and I felt bad I got mad at him.

Then we decided to go to the beach.  Even though we were all tired and grouchy.  Turns out everyone else decided to go too.  We waited in traffic FOREVER.  Anna never took a nap and cried most of the way there "I want my blanket, no like this, no like fofu, no like this music, mommy wake up, I WANT GO BEACH!!!"   Thank goodness Julia slept.

Beach was wonderful.  We went out on this Dike near Tillamook, there is like a 1/2 mile walk to the beach.  I forgot my sandals, and was wearing good running shoes I didn't want to get sand in.  So I walked barefoot.  The sand was sooo hot I got 2 blisters on my toes.  That was dumb of me.  Anyways, other than that (and trying to get anna to walk to the beach while we carried everything else) it was nice.  Until the wind came after an hour or two.  Then we went home

We stopped to get ice cream @ the cheese factory, but the line was longer than the trip to the coast - so we left.

The drive home was worse than the drive there as Julia woke up and screamed.  We had to stop the car a few times to discipline anna.  When we told her the car wasn't moving until she behaved she was rather glad.  She wanted to "camp" on the side of the road.  After way too long in the car we finally made it back home to hot and stinky house and went to bed.

Oh well.  I guess writing it down it isn't too bad.  But I think I'm just so tired that everything is more dramatic than it really is.  Ah well you win some you lose some.  its time for bed.
